Online music content and service providers in China earned about RMB 2.3B ($349.8M) last year, up 14.4% from 2009. 90% of the total revenue came from wireless music services via mobile phones, including polyphonic ringtones and download music with a growth rate of 9.8 %. However, the market was plagued by rampant piracy and lack of originality and the ministry is making efforts to regulate it.
