The famous cycling race is considered one of the most difficult cycling races in the world, particularly famous for its “Trouée d’Aranberg” a 2.4 km long stretch of cobblestones on route.
France television provided exceptional coverage and for the first time used ATEME’s Mpeg4 4:2:2 10-bit technology provided by Globecast from a SNG truck. To enhance the coverage, one remote camera was deployed and the signal transmitted via satellite. This signal needed to be synchronized with the other camera feeds in the OB Van. This event was a great testing ground for Ateme to show the performance of Mpeg4 compression in terms of video quality and low latency on a reduced bandwidth satellite link. Globecast’s skill and expertise ensured a highly successful event broadcast.
